Matthew Perales
Matthew Perales has been an employee of the Florence Unified School District since 2007. He was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Arizona to pursue a career in education with his wife, Candace.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Secondary Education with focuses in Communication and Comparative Religion. In 2016 he completed his Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
During his time with FUSD, he taught 7th grade language arts and math, as well as 8th grade math at Walker Butte. He coached baseball and basketball for several seasons for the Coyotes. In 2016, he transferred to San Tan Foothills High School to teach mathematics—teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics. He has served as a grade level lead, a department chair, and a mentor teacher. Currently he is the Academic Intervention Specialist for STFHS. He has been recognized as Teacher of the Year in San Tan Valley.
When not at school, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, listening to music or watching sporting events.
